Lemon Angel Project - 01

Can this anime season get any worse? First there was Key-rape Kagihime that ended up below average, overhyped Fate/Stay Night and Ayakashi that's just as exciting as watching paint dry. Will this be the saviour that will redeem all anime-kind?

Token shoujo-ai 'subtext' check!Archer class=always gay!

Lemon Angel Project sounds like some sort of hentai title and knowing the background behind this, it isn't too far from the truth! But this anime, is surprisingly an advertisement for the 14 year old seiyuu who voices the main character, called Tomo. It would help is she was any good at voice acting! Her voice immediately struck me as being out of place and annoyingly normal but let's check out what Lemon Angel Project is all about first!
Tomo is just a normal girl, and like most normal girls in anime - she is clumsy, a bit stupid and honest at heart. Her 'very' good friend Yui, is presumed missing and Tomo reminicies about the past. Yui wrote some songs and one called 'Evolution' was used for a pop idol group named Lemon Angel. But suddenly one day, the band all but disappeared under mysterious circumstances! Liek zomg! But one member remains called Miki, who with the help of her manager is going to start up Lemon Angel (mark 2.)
Tomo gets up and gets herself ready for school as the camera pans for some fanservice of the shower variety! She showers and brushes her teeth at the same time! Will this be a new trend of nastiness in 2017? She bumps into her friend and in her sub-par voicing acting declares how wonderful Miki is. Of course, Tomo walks into a room where Miki is playing the piano - but not after embarassing herself completely! This had to be the most cringe worthy, I-want-it-to-end scene as Tomo MONOLOGUES for about 4 minutes about great Miki is. It's safe to say that Miki feels the same way about Tomo like the rest of us, by saying: 'I HATE GIRLS LIKE YOU'. Harsh. ;)
Oh noes poor Tomo - she finally got the message! So she hangs around the streets after school with her poorly voice acted best friend and then amazingly manages to get stalked! He's obviously deaf! They split up while running and the stalker runs after Tomo - but he turns out to be some super-duper music mongol that her old 'missing/dead/' friend Yui knew! And most bizarrely of all, invites her to the auditions of the new Lemon Angel. After all that, Tomo runs off - she can't be an idol - especially with a crappy vocie like that! But in a nearby studio, Men In Black discuss about Yui and Tomo hides in a cupboard -they seem shifty. But of course, they discover her! (Who couldn't?)
THE END!

I HATE YOU TOO TOMO!I DIED.

I don't normally care for voice acting, but the voice of Tomo was on the verge of me genociding the whole anime. Couldn't they have picked someone better and just let her sing the songs? It was too much to ask! However most of the other VA's are done well, but if don't like the main character - will there be any hope? :o The story is a mishmash of flashbacks and future events - so it can be a bit confusing to follow as well, and that's if it was any good! Maybe it was just a bad first episode of "Tomonologues", with a bit more interaction with other characters and drama..it may do well! I'll see how it goes before considering dumping it in the dreaded SLUSH PILE. :D

Overall: 5/10

More songs! Less Tomonologues!
