After opening so well, it all went a bit downhill - I don't care if some poor loser boy gets walked all over because we all know what is going to happen already! So much for an epic plot! lol
I suppose I shouldn't expect much of a romance/comedy especially one as 'medicore' as this. Wasn't there an OVA/Movie of this drivel already? What is the point rehashing the same story? Once or twice is enough!

BASIC PLOT: Boy meets girls=they fall in love+ some 'complications'.

It is watchable - but just barely in my point of view. If romantic comedies is your thing,you'd probably get alot more out of this than what I did! :)

Air Ep1

AIR EP. 1

Take a dating simulation game and turn it into an anime and that's what you have here with AIR. All the female characters look a bit on the young side with it's 'Loli-esque' style but overlook that and you might see a worthwhile anime to watch. AIR just cries out Dating Sim with the background music and the main male lead Yukito meeting about half a dozen girls in the first episode! Except that all the girls are on the strange side of things - not that he really cares because he is so starving! Lol.

The animation is very nice and makes Xenosaga look cheap (especially those CG ships!) plus the opening and ending songs are better than most so it's a plus! But it isn't really my type of anime so I'll watch the next episode to see if I should continue. ;)

Xenosaga The Animation: Ep.1

XENOSAGA THE ANIMATION EP.1



I was looking foward to watching Xenosaga - after hearing great reviews/comments about how good the story was in the game for the PS2.

But if this is what the game is like.. then heaven help! :x

The first episode of any series should grab your attention but this unfortunetely decided to throw my attention span right out of the window! From what I could tell, the plot revolves around panning screenshots of Shion; I mean - Shion being the goody two shoes she is, wants to help out an inferior known race called 'Realians' and she grows fond of a child-like one blah blah. Then out of nowhere evil attacking aliens known as 'Gnosis' decide to ruin Shion's fun!
But of course everyone's favourite robot KOS-MOS 'ressurects' herself *gasp* to probably save Shion! Cue episode 2!
But this episode was dull in every sense of the word - including the colour pallete it seems! The opening was uninspiring and the dialogue was every bit as mind numbing as you expect. However I will hold the rest of my scathing comments until I watch one or two more episodes - that unless it doesn't send me to sleep first. ;)

One noteworthy mention is the ending song - very pretty and I think it should have been the opening song instead.
Let's see what episode 2 holds in store!

Mai-HiME Ep.13

Sorry for the lack of updates! Too much games to play and so little time lol.

Episode 13 marks the halfway point of the series - and what have we learned?


Nothing that much really to tell the truth. Apart from *cough*Alyssa+Miyu=evil*cough* Mai-HiME up to now has been about the discovery of the so mysterious HiMEs which were pretty obvious! Also add to the fact the filler episodes with the monster-of-the-day routine, took up more than enough! But it's entertaining and so I'm still watching. ;)

The Mai-Tate-Reito love triangle is going along the predictable path - Mai & Tate are going to end up with each other although Reito is Mai's saviour earlier on. Blah blah blah!


Now onto the more interesting characters:
Shizuru only needed one appearance in this episode to recitify what everyone knows - she 0wns!


Yukino and Haruka are so cute to watch together!


And.. what does Mikoto not like??


I'm expecting some sort of plot to kick in the next episode: roll on episode 14!

Dangaizer 3 Vol.2

After craving for more I sought after the final volume of Dangaizer 3!

The story continues with the Dangaizer trio having just defeated one of DD's subordinates (with dramatic consequences!) and a for a brief 5 minutes - wait make that 15 minutes - is obviously an excuse for the creators to show off their leading ladies in swimming costumes. Not that I'm complaining much ;)

More revelations are revealed as we get to find out more about the enemy - that they are not as 'evil' as the viewer might have thought at first. There is neither good nor evil in the battle for dominance, but rather shades of gray. Interestingly enough a new player is revealed which shocks Hina to the core as it looks very much like herself! She is named Eileen 'The Angel Of Darkness' and is intent on destroying Dangaizer with her oh so superior robot that she keeps mentioning: 'Bloody Kazan'.

But not that we get to see much of it.

Infact, the OVA ends on an anti-climax: We don't get to see Dangaizer battle it out with DD or Eileen's Bloody Kazan although it is implied quite a bit! Maybe a bit of a disappointment to some who were expecting BIG Super Robot battles to finish this great OVA series but I found the ending to be fitting and open ended.

You are left again feeling there should be more - but the company's budget for making Dangaizer 3 probably ran out. :X

Just enjoy for what it's worth: Super Robot Mecha with a sprinkling of fanservice and action! A perfect combination together.

"Thou shalt wear skimpy outfits and be judged!"

I bought Dangaizer 3 based purely on what I saw on the front cover and description on the back. After all, it couldn't be that bad..could it?

Basically the plot revolves around a 16 year old named Hina Mitsurugi who lives in Neo Hong Kong, where holographic kick-boxing seems to be all the rage apparently! After a typical night out with her friends she ditches them of course and gets chased by rabid dogs and a rampant dominatrix!
Hina awakens her dormant power just like every other magical girl - except she has a big Super Robot called Dangaizer - The God of all.
Joined by Cindy and Reika they fend off the evils from the organization run by the flamboyant 'DD' and his feng shui circle.

Feng Shui? Yes.. very confusing! ;)

The pilots of various mecha have a certain Feng Shui alignment or elements to you and me such as 'fire' and 'wind'. Certain combinations are better than others as Hina and Co. find out!

I was pleasantly surprised by the sheer quality of animation and style. I love the designs of the mecha and of course the characters, but especially their battle outfits - remicent of Magic Knights Rayearth.

The plot moves very fast and by the time you watched it all, it feels like there should be more: well what do you know - There's also volume 2! At 60mins ( Two 30 minute OVAs) maybe asking full price is a bit much, but I found it entertaining! This is what every mech anime should be like - drop the politics and just get it on with mindless action!!

Pros
+ Animation is top notch
+ Character designs are great!!
+ 'Obvious' implied shoujo-ai ;)

Cons
- You'll probably have to watch it twice to gather up the bits of plot
- Expect a little bit of fanservice! It's not really a bad point but some people don't like it
- Too short?

RATING: 8.5/10

One of the best Super Robot Anime I've seen! Recommended!
